Powderham Castle Trip
To support our learning next term and give us an exciting, hands-on experience, the Year 1 classes will be going on a trip to Powderham Castle, near Exeter on Wednesday 2nd July. We will travel by coach to Powderham, leaving school at 9.00am and returning for the end of the school day.
The trip promises to be really interesting and informative as well as a fun day out for the children. On the day, we will be met on arrival by leaders from the Castle’s Education Centre who will then support the children to complete a series of activities and challenges around the Castle. These activities have been specifically planned for our age group and are designed to be stimulating, interesting and exciting. We are certain that this will be a really worth-while trip for the children.
On the day of the trip, your child will need to wear their school uniform, comfortable shoes and bring a waterproof coat. If the weather is hot, they will also need a sunhat and have sun cream applied before school. They will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinks for the day. These will need to be carried in a small backpack or bag. Please remember to cancel any school dinners booked on Parent Pay for that day. If you child is in receipt of Pupil Premium and you would like to book a school packed lunch, please let your child’s teacher know.
The PTFA, who work to enhance the education of the children at our school, have kindly agreed to fund part of this trip. To cover the remainder, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £14.25 (£7.13 for children in receipt of Pupil Premium). Unfortunately, if insufficient contributions are received the trip will not be able to go ahead.
Please log on to your Parent Pay account for this trip by Monday 9th June to give permission for your child to attend the event and to pay your contribution. The trip will be shown as a payment item at the top of the home page. If you require any assistance with Parent Pay please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
We will need parental help for the trip. If you would like to join us, please let your child’s teacher know.
Many thanks for your continued support,
The Year 1 Team
Have you heard about The Withycombe 60?
It's 60 brilliant things to do while at our school.
Each year group has a list of interesting activities to work towards through the year, with each class having their own 'postcard' to write down when they complete their activities.
We'll add some photos on this page as we go along!
