A great opportunity has arisen to work within our successful, caring and inclusive church school. Withycombe Raleigh is a popular, large and successful coastal town school with excellent resources and a highly regarded team of teaching and non-teaching staff.   

This is a fixed term contract until July 2023 to support 2 Year 6 children (who will be moving onto secondary school).

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of working with children with additional needs would be advantageous

  • An enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills

  • The ability to deliver effective interventions, recording and helping the teacher to analyse the results

  • Numerate and with good standards of spoken and written English

  • Ability to build excellent relationships with children and adults

  • Have a good sense of humour and fun, with a desire to make a difference in helping all children to learn to their potential

  • Help the pupils organise and plan their work 

  • Maintain focus on the task

  • Assist in scaffolding and differentiation of tasks

  • Help them use visual strategies to get started and self-monitor their progress.

  • Help with alternative means of recording

  • Reiterate tasks set by the teacher in simplified language

  • Implement report recommendations from professionals

  • Deliver emotional wellbeing intervention as led by the school wellbeing champion

  • Oversee social interactions and mediate peer communication if necessary

  • Assist with transition to secondary school

  • Use social stories and comic book conversations (training given) 

  • Be consistently calm, curious and kind

We are looking for a Breakfast Club Playleader to work as part of a small team within our wonderful, well respected school. You will need to be able to undertake a range of breakfast club activities with groups of children aged between 4 and 11 years old.  The post holder will be required to undertake or currently hold a paediatric first aid certificate.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinating the provision of a caring, safe, secure and stimulating environment in the out-of-school childcare 

  • Oversee systems to ensure records and payments are up to date and any other admin duties as required 

  • Meeting/exceeding the minimum requirements as set nationally by planning a varied menu of appropriate play activities

  • Supervising staff, including ensuring they are supported in order to offer the highest quality provision

  • To ensure confidentiality of information received


This role is a jobshare and is currently worked on a 2 week rota.

Week 1 is Monday, Tuesday and Friday and Week 2 is Wednesday and Thursday. The working hours are 7.15am to 8.40am.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
