We are fortunate at Withycombe Raleigh to have a thriving PTFA that has been and continues to be an integral part of the school community. In its time the PTFA has raised tens of thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s educational experience and the school’s facilities.
Our PTFA however is about much more than simply fundraising. The PTFA exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It is fun too!
All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. All families are automatically members of Withycombe Raleigh PTFA when their child joins our school.
You are all welcome to attend our meetings, to get involved in what’s going on, share your ideas and opinions. Meetings are advertised on the notice boards around school or you could join our email list which will enable you to receive the minutes and reminders regarding all events.
Following the recent elections, within the PTFA we have a committee of 13 who have voting rights on matters such as funding requests.
The committee members as of September 2017 are:
Chair – S Dixon*
Vice Chair – A Luxton
Treasurer – T Williams*
Vice Treasurer – C Browning
Secretary – J Sleigh*
Vice Secretary and Communications – L Stortenbeker
Procurement – C James
Vice Procurement – A Kew
Health and Safety – K Samson
Teacher Rep – E Jones
Teacher Rep – M Smith
Governor Rep – H Fenner
*minimum roles required to meet constitution
Our excellent Parent Teacher & Friends Association organises: Football Events, Coffee Mornings, Foundation Bedtime Stories... fundraising events such as the Summer Fayre, Christmas Fayre, Bingo, Quiz Nights and more!
These events raise vital funds for the school and this year have paid for visits, theatre trips, ICT and sporting equipment.
There's lots of key information in these minutes, including what we have raised this year and how, what we spent funds on, and the schedule of events for 2017-2018.
We are keen to recruit new members to the committee to use your unique skills to create interesting events and raise funds to augment the educational experience of the children at Withycombe Raleigh School. Our current Chair will be stepping down in the summer of 2018 and so the more committed members we have, the more we can share out and make the events fun for the volunteers as well as the attendees!

The PTFA have successfully raised a staggering amount for the school. This is made possible through the hard work of all the committee members, and support from families and friends of the school.
Every class is given a £100 'cheque' from the PTFA to decide how to spend. Some classes vote use it to reduce the cost of education trips.
